My September Favourites!

Hi Guys!

I wanted to publish this post sooner, at least while it was still the month of September (duh..!), but it was quite a difficult task with my anniversary coming up on the 3rd of October. So, as of 3 days ago my boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years (which is insane!). As you can imagine I spent most of the previous week searching for an awesome gift for him and planning our anniversary date. Therefore, the delay is justified. :)

So, for this post I thought I'd try something new and as you already guessed by the title it's a "Monthly Favourites" post. I'm sure you already know what a "Monthly Favourites" post is but in case you don't, it's basically a post where every month you write about the things that you loved or used the most or the things that made an impression on you. I don't know if I'll be posting my "Monthly Favourites" every single month because, I guess, it depends on whether I have a lot of things to write about or not, or if there's something new/cool that I can't wait to show you.

Moving on to:
My September Favourites

Favourite Snack:
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Spread Triple Sand-witch.

I've been loving this snack lately. Usually when I get hungry during the day, I will look for a snack that involves chocolate. But apart from the sand-witch's chocolate-ey deliciousness, what I love most about it is that it's very quick & easy to make, so if I'm really busy (or really lazy) and I don't want to spend much time preparing something to eat or even thinking about my options, this is my immediate choice. Also, even though I'm not a fan of peanut butter by itself, I find that it goes perfectly with chocolate; it gives it an amazing peanut-ey finish. I would definitely recommend this as a quick go-to snack for busy (or lazy) days.

Favourite Youtube Subscription:

Good Mythical Morning
"Good Mythical Morning" or "GMM" is a daytime internet talk show on youtube, hosted by Rhett and Link. The show is currently running on its 8th season, broadcasting episodes from Monday to Friday. "Good Mythical Morning" focuses on a variety of interesting and funny topics as well as many events that take place in the lives
                                      of Rhett and Link.

I highly recommend watching this show if you like to laugh and explore new & interesting topics (that you might not have thought about at all). I think it's great to watch with both friends and family as it is the kind of show that is appropriate for anyone and it can bring people closer.

Favourite Movie Series:
Underworld which consists of:

The story begins with "Underworld", a movie about an eternal battle for supermacy between the Vampires and the Lycans (another name for the werewolf race, which I love because of its greek origin). The plot revolves around Selene, a warrior of the vampire race whose official title is "Death Dealer" (basically a warrior created for the purpose of "reducing" the growing numbers of Lycans). She is set on destroying the Lycans to get revenge because they allegedly killed her family. She discovers that they are tracking a human, Michael Corvin, for unknown reasons and she captures him in order to find exactly who he is and why the Lycans want to acquire him. This leads up to many revelations, not only about the leader of the Lycans and his plot to bring down the vampire race but also the Vampire Elders, one of which is her father-figure and mentor Viktor.
The rest of the movies in the series, "Underworld: Evolution" and "Underworld: Awakening" are a continuance of this story as time progresses, except for "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" which highlights past events.
If you have never seen the movie before, then that is all I can write without spoiling it for you, but spoiler alert!, I'm sure you already suspected, but Selene ends up falling in love with Michael.

So, let's move on to my personal comments about the movie series:

The movies have many positive audience reviews. Although there have been many negative critic reviews as well, being someone who doesn't have the habit of over-analysing every single aspect of a movie to the point where I determine it's complete rubbish, I found it quite enjoyable. I swear, movie critics seem to me like they are the most boring people in the world (they must enjoy less than 15% of all movies in existence).
First of all, I happen to love movies of the fantasy genre because most of the things that I write in my spare time (like stories or short novels) are set in a fantasy world with characters that have supernatural characteristics. So, I watch a lot of fantasy movies in hope that I will get inspired. This movie series definitely got me inspired in some ways especially because it portrays the vampire and werewolf races with a few differences from what we would usually expect - and many differences in comparison to the supernatural beings in more popular teenage movies (e.g. Twilight).
Furthermore, I love the fact that the story focuses on a strong female character who kicks ass as an awesome warrior. Selene, realistically, is a role that many women would aspire to play in their everyday lives; to be the kind of powerful woman who is confident in herself and her abilities, lives life on the edge and doesn't back down no matter the difficulties. But despite her strength and courage, she also has a very vulnerable side, which is something that many women can relate to; no matter how strong a woman appears to be there is always a more vulnerable and sensitive side to her. I feel that the increasing vulnerability that ensues (spoiler alert!after she starts falling in love with Michael gives more depth and realism to her existence.
However even though I just wrote great things about Selene, surprisingly she is not my favourite character in the series. My absolute favourite characters are without a doubt Lucian, played by the very talented Michael Sheen and Viktor, played by the amazing Bill Nighy. I can't go into detail about what I love most about them because I'm afraid that I might mention too many spoilers. I will say however that I love how the roles that the characters play in the plot change as we get to know them more throughout the story, especially in "Underworld" but also in "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" which is basically a journey to the past that reveals more details about the conflict between Lucian and Viktor.
Lastly my favourite out of all the movies is probably the first one, "Underworld" - I especially LOVED the ending- while my least favourite was the last one, "Underworld: Awakening". However I hear that there's another movie coming out next year, so we will have to see whether that one wins the title of my favourite/least favourite movie in the series.

So, that's it for my "September Favourites"!
